Create personalised gift tags and bookmarks.

Updated: 6 days ago

Who doesn’t love a Christmassy cookie? These ones are super cute and very easy to make. I found this recipe on Recipetineats, and you can follow the link to make it. I also think books make a great present. There are a tonne of great musical books to find and Goodreads has a heap of lists for inspiration. We have some middle-grade musical book recommendations too on our blog, and some that are slightly unexpected.

Ludwig—my trusty violin companion—insisted we include Violetta’s tales in the pictures so there you are. (He also says we give away gift tags and a book mark with every shop purchase).

Before you start: Read the recipe and gather your ingredients.

What you’ll need:

  1. PDF file of gift tags and book marks. (I have six designs available pictured below, or you can create your own).

  2. A friendly local printer. (As I mentioned, I use the team at TasPrint).

  3. Scissors, hole punch, tassels, ingredients for the star cookies, plastic wrap, ribbons and tassels. A laminater (optional).

  4. A book of your choice.

Method:

  1. Ask your friendly local printer to print the gift tags, double sided along the long edge and the book marks double sided along the short edge on 210 thick gloss cardboard.

  2. If your printer is as wonderful as mine, they will laminate and also cut them for you, otherwise you can do this yourself.

  3. Bake and ice the biscuits. I used this royal icing recipe and decorated them like so. (I also wore my Nanna’s apron while making them. So cute! Ooh, and another idea for next year.)

  4. Once the icing is set, bag the biscuits, punch a hole in the gift tag and attach with a ribbon.

  5. Punch a hole in your bookmark, attach a tassel or ribbon and insert it inside your book of choice. You can also wrap this and attach an extra gift tag like so.

And voila! An easy way to personalise your Christmassy creations for the musical cookie monster in your life.
